Updates from November
Hundreds of BUILD leaders stood with ReBUILD Metro and Re-Build Johnston Square as they cut the ribbon on The Hammond, a new 109-unit affordable housing building and a new Enoch Pratt Free Library on the ground floor. This is a culmination of more than 10 years of work in Johnston Square, which has become a model for community-led development in Baltimore.
25 BUILD leaders stepped forward and participated in our 2nd annual BUILD Phone-a-thon, reaching out to ask people to invest in BUILD. In a little under two hours, we got almost $4000 in commitments! Please consider donating to BUILD today! You can make a donation here.
BUILD supported leaders from St. Bernardine’s Catholic Church and the Edgewood Neighborhood Community Association on a walk with 60+ including Del. Malcolm Ruff, the Baltimore Dept of Police, Dept of Public Works, and Department of Housing all attending.
BUILD has been training! In November alone, we trained close to 80 people. We’ve been in Druid Heights, Coppin Heights, and Franklin Square. We also conducted a 3-day more intensive training for those leaders who are ready to take a deeper dive into organizing skills, understanding power, and the tools to take action. Be on the lookout for more training opportunities in 2026.
